A juicy, aromatic red with a wonderfully unusual twist: bright Pinot Noir meets fragrant Gewurztraminer for a fresh, fruit-filled wine with plenty of personality. Made in the Languedoc and best enjoyed lightly chilled.

Tasting note

Bright red cherry and cranberry flavours mingle with lychee and tropical fruit, giving the wine an unexpectedly aromatic, almost exotic character. Juicy and refreshing with lively acidity and a soft, easy-drinking finish.

Food pairing

Try it lightly chilled with sticky plum duck, fragrant Thai curry or creamy salmon risotto. It also works brilliantly with charcuterie and lighter summer dishes.

The winemaker

Bazar is made by Boutinot France, the French winemaking arm of Boutinot. Their team works with growers and partners across France, combining fruit from different sources with their own winemaking expertise to create characterful, accessible wines. For Bazar, they have deliberately embraced the unusual combination of Pinot Noir and Gewurztraminer, co-fermenting the two varieties to create this bright and bouncy red.

The region

The wine comes from the Languedoc in southern France, one of the country's most diverse and dynamic wine regions. With a warm Mediterranean climate and a huge variety of soils, grape varieties and microclimates, the Pays d'Oc IGP gives winemakers plenty of freedom to experiment with unconventional blends like this one.
