Think you’re a fungi?
Join us for our FIRST series of mushroom growing workshops with the amazing Susy Langsdale, fungi fanatic and foraging extraordinaire.
Location: 183 Blackstock Rd, N5 2LL
Time: 7.30pm - 9.30pm
On the night, Susy will take you down the rabbit hole to the fantastic world of fungi, unpacking the mysteries of mycorrhizas then showing you how to pack your own grow bag using coffee grounds from local cafes.
With food being wasted at an epic scale in this country, this session will also invite you to think differently about our food systems and cultivate ‘waste’ such as spent coffee.
After this 2h hands-on workshop you will leave understanding more about how fungi reproduce and what conditions they need to grow well, as well as taking home your own homemade oyster mushroom grow kit to fruit at home.
Refreshments and Nourished Communities nibbles are included but you may want to eat before you arrive.
Who’s it for?
Suitable for anyone interested in the wonderful world of mushrooms. No knowledge or experience required to take part.
Over 11 years old recommended.
About Susy
Susy runs Queer As Funghi leading foraging walks and cultivation workshops for trans, queer and intersex people. They are interested in how our relationship with nature can be a reciprocal one rather than an extractive one. They work as a grower in Hackney, and founded the new project Young Rotters which aims to connect young marginalised people to nature through gardening and composting.
Accessibility
The workshop will be conducted on the shop floor where there are some tight spaces and a step. Contact us on support@nourishedcommunities.com for specific accessibility questions.
